Energy Engineer - Sustainability and Decarbonization
We are seeking a creative energy engineer who shares our passion for mitigating climate impacts to join our team. The successful applicant will understand and have experience with building envelope performance, construction methodologies, and decarbonization retrofits. A familiarity with HVAC systems is important for considering the interrelationships between the mechanical and building systems. Experience with mechanical system redesign including efficiency, electrification, ventilation and decarbonization retrofits is required. Familiarity with MEP and building construction processes will be critical in achieving our clients’ goals.
Key Responsibilities
For our Clients
Perform energy and decarbonization audits and assessments.
Provide conceptual designs and drawings.
Develop innovative approaches to design challenges.
Provide and/or oversee subcontractors to perform load analyses, energy modeling, trending and other evaluation studies.
Provide owner’s agent services from initial concept through bidding, installation and commissioning.
Facilitate cross-functional relationships with clients, outside vendors and incentive program providers.
Create reports that clearly and concisely convey findings and recommendations.
For RPM
Collaborate with RPM team to combine traditional thinking with creative approaches to decarbonize existing buildings.
Stay current on new technologies and procedures.
Devise and manage projects and budgets including subcontracted services.
Build relationships with vendors, installers, utility partners and others.
Support team learning opportunities.
Expertise in 50% or more of the following:
Building automation and control systems
Electrification requirements and systems
HVAC systems, all fuel types
Power quality and reliability improvements
Utility efficiency programs
CHP, geothermal, lighting and other systems
MA building codes
Qualifications
BS in engineering or related technical field
Five + years experience
PE or CEM preferred but not required
Ability to think outside the box
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to travel locally as needed
